Cell Division

Mitosis

Mitosis is asexual reproduction resulting in two identical daughter cells. Interphase occurs before mitosis that allows for the growth and DNA replication necessary for cell division. Mitosis is divided into prophase, interphase, anaphase and telophase and is followed by cytokinses where the cytoplasm divides.

Meiosis

Meiosis is sexual reproduction that results in 4 gametes, one being an egg that will/could be fertilized and turn into a new organism. Meiosis happens twice and is devided into meiosis one and two. The individual descriptions of the different stages are to the left.
