What is Life?
Evolution and Natural Selection
Evolution
Evolution is the change over time of a species (or multiple if a group of species change too much) to better adapt and survive in thier environment. The theory was first put forth by Charles Darwin after a trip around the world, the science part culminating in the Galapagos Islands where he observed that different species of finches evolved to better eat whatever food was available on thier island although they all desended from a common ancestor

Natural Selection
N atural selecgtion is the theory that organisms best suited to survive thier surrounding nature, or habitat, are selected, or just don't die as fast as the others, to survive and reproduce. For example, a grey mouse will survive and reproduce in a species of mice that lives on grey rock while the brown mice will be killed by a predator that will easily spot it. This favorable grey trait will then be passed on through generations
